Real-World Skills & Independent Living Program
Independence doesn’t stop at academics or vocational training. We provide structured instruction in real-world skills so students can build confidence and autonomy in every aspect of their lives. This track progresses year by year, giving students practical tools for adulthood.


Sample Real-World Skills Track
Our sample track highlights how real-world skills are intentionally built over time, beginning with foundational routines and progressing toward greater independence. Each stage supports students in gaining confidence and practical abilities for daily living, community participation, and adulthood.

Year 1: Foundations of Independence
Assessment-driven instruction builds core daily living skills including self-care, organization, basic money awareness, and kitchen safety. Learning is individualized and aligned to student strengths and goals.

Year 2: Applied Home & Community Skills
Students develop practical home and community skills such as simple cooking, laundry routines, grocery shopping, and introductory budgeting and purchasing skills.

Year 3: Independent Living in Practice
Students apply independence skills in real-life settings including meal preparation, home maintenance, appointment management, travel training, and introductory banking skills.

Year 4-6: Transition to Adulthood
Students strengthen independence across home, community, and employment environments. Instruction may include independent cooking, household management, financial responsibility, transportation navigation, and development of a personalized Independent Living Plan.
